Penji Review

Do you have on-going graphics design works? Spending too much time sourcing for freelancers on Upwork just to spend even more time redoing the whole thing again?

Penji knows your pain.

As a Design-As-A-Service (DaaS), you get unlimited design projects across unlimited brands from just $399 per month.

There is no contract to bind you down and there is a dedicated designer just for your account.

How it Works

After creating your account, you begin by completing a simple form to let the designers know exactly what you are looking for. You can include any references that you like and specific requirements to align expectations.

Penji will then review your projects and assign the best designer for the job.

Within 24 to 48 hours, you will receive your first draft. This is when you can submit your revisions until you are happy with the design.

You just have to download your files and mockups and start using your new design works

Who Should Use Penji?

Bloggers like me who need design works especially when it comes to putting together lead magnets such as eBooks or Infographics.

During my previous marketing role, we would also requisite for regular design works as we don’t have a dedicated headcount.

Any small businesses would benefit from this service since it provides regularity and consistently while allowing savings compared to a headcount.

I would believe marketing agencies could also benefit from this DaaS model since it provides a quick turnaround and they often have multiple brands to cater to.

Their clientele is pretty impressive. Companies such as AWeber, lyft, Reebok, UPS, Best Buy and many more are already tapping on Penji for their design works.

Pro: What I like about Penji

  • The pricing is undeniably attractive, especially if you require a regularity of design works.
  • Since the fee is fixed, you don’t have to worry about exceeding your design budget due to unsatisfactory design since you have unlimited revisions.
  • You get to work with top tier design talents. Penji only hires the top 2% of all designer applicants.
  • There is no contract so you can stop using it anytime you want.

Con: What I don’t like about Penji

This is truly on nit-picking territory.

  • It would be great to know why I get paired with a specific designer as I would prefer to know that their prior works make them a better fit.
  • It will not be suitable if your design load is not high. I would imagine anything less than 3 per month might not make it feasible.
  • Communication with your designer is purely through chat so you need to be able to accurately bring across what you want otherwise it will not just be a nightmare for the designer since there is no boundary, but for the user as well during revisions.
